Eligibility comes before the drug lookup.

  1. Ask the pharmacy to confirm your Ontario Drug Benefit eligibility.
  2. Search the exact product or DIN in the ODB Formulary.
  3. Check whether a Limited Use restriction applies. If relevant, ask the prescriber about Exceptional Access Program criteria.
  4. Confirm your payable amount with the pharmacy before purchase.

Enrollment and product listing are separate checks. The indication and funding criteria matter.

BRITISH COLUMBIA · PHARMACARE

Check whether approval must come first.

  1. Confirm which PharmaCare plan applies to you.
  2. Look up the product and its Special Authority requirements.
  3. If Special Authority is required, confirm approval before purchasing: purchases without approval in place are not eligible under those rules.
  4. Ask about remaining deductibles and your family maximum under Fair PharmaCare.

  • Is this exact DIN eligible under my own plan and prescribed indication?
  • Is prior authorization required, and who must complete the form?
  • Do eligibility criteria, previous-treatment requirements or exclusions apply?
  • What deductible, reimbursement limit, percentage and annual maximum remain?
  • Can the pharmacy bill directly, or must I pay first and submit a claim?
